PROPULSION SERVICES

Main Engine, Auxiliary Engines, Gear boxes, Propeller, CPP and General Services for yachts and commercial vessels

Maintenance and overhaul service for yachts and commercial vessels is typically performed by our specialized marine engineering team with expertise in marine technical systems. It is recommended to schedule regular maintenance and inspections to prevent costly breakdowns and ensure the safety and enjoyment of yacht cruising and efficient ship management.

This is a critical maintenance procedure of Yatservis’ team aimed at ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of the yacht’s equipment. Over time, all the components may wear out due to regular use, exposure to harsh marine environments, or inadequate maintenance. An overhaul involves disassembling, inspecting, repairing, and reassembling the units to restore it to optimal performance and extend its lifespan.

Key steps involved in a overhaul service include:

During maintenance and repairs, the recommendations of manufacturer manuals strictly applied

We believe in protective maintenance and aim to introduce this process to the Turkish marine sector.

Initial Assessment: The engine, generator, gearbox, propeller, CPP or other equipment is inspected to determine the extent of wear and damage. This assessment helps plan the revision process and identify required parts and resources. A preliminary report is prepared, approval is obtained from the boat owner for the content and pricing of the proposed services, the service is performed and a final report is presented. The order of these steps is followed strictly and our communication is always in writing.

Disassembly: The equipment is carefully disassembled, and each component is inspected for wear, damage, or signs of malfunction. Parts that are worn out or damaged are identified for repair or replacement.

Cleaning and Preparation: All components, including engine blocks, cylinders, pistons, valves, and bearings, are thoroughly cleaned to remove dirt, debris, and residue. Surface preparation may also involve machining or honing to restore proper tolerances for gears, shafts, bearings, seals, housings, and lubrication systems. Components are tagged and organized for repair or replacement.

Repair and Replacement: Worn-out or damaged components are repaired or replaced with new or refurbished parts. This may include cylinder honing, piston ring replacement, valve seat grinding, bearing replacement, and crankshaft polishing or machining.

Inspections may require gear tooth reprofiling, bearing replacement, seal replacement, shaft straightening, and housing repair. Components are installed according to manufacturer specifications and tolerances.

Reassembly: After all necessary repairs and replacements are completed, the unit is reassembled following manufacturer specifications and tolerances. Proper torque settings and alignment procedures are followed to ensure the unit operates smoothly.

Gaskets, seals, and bearings are installed with care to prevent leaks and ensure proper lubrication.

Testing and Tuning: The overhauled engine undergoes rigorous testing to verify its performance, reliability, and compliance with safety standards. This may include running the unit at various speeds and loads to check for vibrations, leaks, or abnormal noises. Tuning adjustments may be made to optimize fuel efficiency and power output.

Documentation and Maintenance: Comprehensive documentation of the overhaul process, including parts replaced, repairs made, and testing results, is provided to the owner or operator. Recommendations for ongoing maintenance and care of all the units are also offered to ensure continued reliability and performance. Service records for a marine vessel are vital for its maintenance. For this purpose, your boat’s/ ship’s records are archived in our company files in order to identify future problems and to provide proper solutions.
